#织物 In Fabric#3.5; The director's choice of leaning heavily towards aesthetics than narrative lends the film a seductive feeling of an enigma. However, the two-part structure doesn't help to hold such aesthetics together; in fact, its sudden turn in style and theme -- from cultish illustration with vaguely gory elements to absurdist social satire with slight criticism on consumerism, the film seems to have its idea all over the place. Overall, I see In Fabric as an earnest attempt on bringing in new life to the horror genre, but sacrificing narrative for style may not be the only way to achieve this.
